Favorites (Internet Explorer) and Bookmarks (Netscape) are
the terms used for web sites a person wants to keep a record of and visit again easily. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape offer the ability to add favorite web sites to the computer for easy revisiting. Note: The AOL browser may not have these
options. If you are an AOL subscriber, you may want to install Internet Explorer or Netscape on your computer to allow you the full range of options.
You would connect to the Internet via AOL, minimize or close the AOL browser, then open the Internet Explorer or Netscape.
There are also a number of free programs that allow individuals to store their
favorites (Internet Explorer) or bookmarks (Netscape) on the Internet. Once an account is set up, it can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet.
If you use multiple computers, have a fear of losing your bookmarks from a computer
crash, or are upgrading your computer, you may want to consider backing up your favorites on the Internet. Most of these services are offered free in exchange for
showing you advertisements while you are accessing your account. You do not have to visit any of the advertisers or buy from them.
