The use of some common computer terms and instructions is necessary in this web site. All mouse instructions assume that it is set up for
right-handed use. If the mouse is set up for left-handed use, you may need to reverse the instructions.
Point
- move the mouse around on the mousepad so that the pointer on the computer screen is aimed at the target.
Click - Depress the left button of the mouse once, releasing quickly.
Note: when the term “click” is used, it always indicates the use of the left mouse button. If the right button is to be used, it will be noted with the term RIGHT click.
Double Click - Depress the left Button of the mouse two times in a row, fairly rapidly.
This takes practice - don’t get frustrated if you are just starting to use a mouse. If you have trouble with the double click, it is often possible to RIGHT click on the target, then open the program.
RIGHT Click - Depress the right button of the mouse once, releasing quickly.
DRAG - click on the target (scroll bar, web page, top (title) bar of the web browser, HOLD the mouse button down, and move your mouse.
