The Internet is simply another way of distributing information, often using telephone and related technology
- just as the fax machines arr. A special programming type language, HTML
(hyper text mark-up language) or its cousins, is used so that your computer can read the information and graphics that are on the web pages, and show them to you in a viewable form.

Information on the Web (World Wide Web) is formatted into pages. Pages are all different sizes, and can contain text.
graphics, sound, movies and more.
A single or group of web pages created by one person (or group of individuals working together) is called a web site.
The main page of a web site is often called the homepage. Sometimes, though, people refer to an entire site as a homepage.
