Create a Shortcut to a Web Page
You can create a shortcut to any web page that will appear on your desktop. Shortcuts can be useful if there is a web page you visit frequently,
or if the web page is of critical importance.
To create a shortcut,
- Have your browser on the web page you wish to revisit.
- RIGHT click anywhere on the web page
- Select Create Shortcut.
The shortcut will be created on your desktop, with the name automatically entered that the web designer designated. To rename the shortcut,
- Left click ONCE on the desktop shortcut if it is not already selected
- RIGHT click on the shortcut
- Select Rename, and type in the name you want for your reference.
Other notes about shortcuts:
- Your desktop can get cluttered quickly with shortcuts to programs and web pages.
Delete shortcuts you no longer want (you can select the shortcut and tap the Delete key on your keyboard), or organize them into folders. Create a folder by RIGHT clicking in any unused area of the desktop, select New, then Folder, and give it a name. Drag shortcuts into the appropriate folder(s).
- The properties dialog box of a shortcut can give you valuable information, including the URL of the shortcut and the date when it was
created. Access the dialog box by RIGHT clicking on the shortcut and choosing Properties.
